Objectives: The Doctoral Degree Program at PPGPSI-UFU at PPGPSI-UFU has the following objectives:
- To consolidate the training and qualification of professors for the development of original, advanced, and innovative scientific research, autonomously, and for the supervision of students in stricto sensu graduate courses,
- To produce professionals in the field of Psychology for the autonomous production of original, advanced, and innovative scientific knowledge that contributes to the solution of problems of interest to the field of psychology or related fields,
- To promote the development of psychology as a science and profession, producing new scientific and socially relevant knowledge, methods, and techniques,
- To provide the doctoral student with theoretical and methodological support that will allow him/her to critically analyze the context of higher education, qualifying him/her to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and
- To collaborate with the qualification of undergraduate teaching at IP-UFU, integrating the research carried out and the teaching activities of professors and students at PPGPSI-UFU.
Entry method: Admission to the Doctoral Degree Program at PPGPSI-UFU is carried out through specific selection processes, governed by notices published annually, generally in the second semester.
These selection processes consist of two stages:
- Elimination stage, related to the evaluation of the candidate's preliminary research project, and
- Classification stage, related to evaluating the candidate's resume.

Organization: The Doctoral Course of the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Uberlândia (PPGPSI-UFU) is organized into four lines of research:
- Cognitive Processes,
- Organizational Processes,
- Psychosocial Processes in Health and Education and
- Psychoanalysis and Culture.

Area of Concentration: Psychology.
Qualification: The PPGPSI-UFU Doctoral Program confers the title of Doctor of Psychology.
Didactic system: The subjects of the PPGPSI-UFU Doctoral Program are taught on a credit-hour basis, with one credit corresponding to 15 hours of class.
Status: In operation.
Funding agencies: The PPGPSI-UFU Doctoral Degree Program is supported by resources from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, the Dean’s Office of Graduate and Research Studies, and the Institute of Psychology of the Federal University of Uberlândia.
Scholarships: The PPGPSI-UFU Doctoral Course offers scholarships according to the grants from funding agencies (CAPES, FAPEMIG and CNPq) to applicants approved in specific selection processes.

Curriculum Structure: The curriculum structure of the Master's and Doctorate Courses of PPGPSI-UFU is composed, in total, of 44 curriculum components, divided into compulsory and elective.
There are 10 specific curriculum components of the Doctoral Course:
- Supervised Activity I,
- Supervised Activity II,
- Supervised Activity III,
- Supervised Activity IV,
- Supervised Activity V,
- Supervised Activity VI,
- Supervised Activity VII,
- Supervised Activity VIII,
- Doctoral Qualifying Examination, and
- Doctoral Thesis.
The respective curriculum structure is articulated with the objectives of the PPGPSI-UFU Doctoral Course and is adequate in terms of workload, considering that the curriculum completion of the aforementioned program requires obtaining at least 72 credits, distributed as follows:
- 12 credits in compulsory curriculum components (Research Seminars I, Research Seminars II, and Educational Psychology and Professional Development of the Educator),
- 16 credits in elective curriculum components,
- 16 credits in Supervised Activity I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII,
- 8 credits in Teaching Internship in Undergraduate Studies I and II,
- 2 credits in Complementary Activities (publication of books, book chapters or articles linked to the PPGPSI-UFU research lines),
- 4 credits in Doctoral Qualifying Exam, and
- 16 credits in Doctoral Thesis.
Compulsory curriculum components allow students to study their line of research and to become professors. Elective curricular components allow students to be exposed to content that is not strictly defined by their line of research. In addition, students can take the curriculum components established by CONPEP Resolution 43/2024, which cover all the graduate programs of the Federal University of Uberlândia.

Objective: At the end of the course, students will be eligible to critically discuss the research studied in the different lines of research of the Program, based on a bibliographical and critical review of the topic.

Profile of the new student: The PPGPSI-UFU doctoral program is designed for graduates with a bachelor's degree in psychology or a full degree in a related field and a master's degree in psychology or a related field.
